Data fabric

Connect everything
you run.
Replace nothing.

Affectli forms a data fabric: one connected layer across the systems you already run, from plant SCADA and PLCs to CCTV, trackers and business databases. The Mi-Stream engine turns their feeds into events your teams can act on.

The approach

Keep the systems that work. Connect them.

Replacing a control system, an asset register or a CCTV estate takes years and puts live operations at risk. Affectli's data fabric connects to everything you run and replaces nothing, so control rooms keep working while the operating picture builds.

Keep what works

Every system keeps its job

SCADA, trackers, cameras and business systems carry on as they are. Affectli reads from them, and sends commands back where a device supports it.

One step at a time

Start from the systems already in place

Begin with the sites and feeds that matter most. Then extend system by system, and sector by sector, without redesigning what is already connected.

Legacy and modern alike

Hardware- and system-agnostic

Legacy systems, third-party solutions, datasets and IoT devices connect in one place, whatever the hardware underneath.

How it works

From thousands of feeds to one live model.

The Mi-Stream engine does the work of the data fabric. It ingests feeds from thousands of sources, applies your rules and integrity checks, and maps each result onto the objects in your ontology, where every Affectli module can use it.

  1. Your systems stay where they are. Nothing is replaced.
  2. Affectli connects to each of them, where they run.
  3. The Mi-Stream engine checks every reading on its way in.
  4. Thousands of feeds become one live model.

Mi-Stream orchestration, step by step

Runs continuously, on every stream
  1. 01

    Ingest

Streams arrive from devices, control systems, trackers and databases, continuously or on a schedule.

  2. 02

    Apply rules

Your rules classify each reading, set thresholds and decide what counts as an event.

  3. 03

    Filter

Readings that matter to no rule are filtered out before they reach an operator’s screen.

  4. 04

    Check integrity

Integrity checks confirm that each record is complete and consistent before it is used.

  5. 05

    Discard invalid data

Records that fail are discarded, so invalid data never raises an event or starts a workflow.

  6. 06

    Raise events, start workflows

Valid events reach the Events Monitor and start the workflows you designed, with alerts, tasks and escalation.

Data streams

Watch the stream. See what the rules decided.

Data streams are continuous, and Affectli shows each one as it moves. Every reading is passed, filtered or discarded by a rule you can see and change.

  • Automated device rules

Predefined rules manage connected IoT devices and decide what becomes an event.
  • Scheduling

Device management and data collection run on the schedules you set.

Bi-directional control

Read from the device. Send commands back.

Where a device supports it, Affectli can switch it on or off, or send a command to clear an alarm, by hand or from a rule. Each command is tied to the object it acts on, so the operator sees the result in the same view.

  • Switch devices on or off from the object, the map or a workflow step
  • Clear alarms by command once the cause is dealt with
  • Let rules and schedules send routine commands
  • Device-dependent: commands are available only where the device and its interface allow them

FAQ

Questions integration teams ask.

Short answers on the data fabric. A product specialist can go through each one against your own system list.

Do we have to replace any of our existing systems?
No. Affectli forms a data fabric across the systems you run today and leaves each one in place, so your control room keeps working while the operating picture builds.
Which systems can Affectli connect to?
Mi-C3 describes Affectli as hardware- and system-agnostic. Systems integrated in deployments reported by Mi-C3 include plant SCADA, PLCs, AIS vessel data, CCTV, GIS, weighbridges, conveyor-belt weightometers, drones, geo-fencing, vehicle trackers, access control, generators and fuel management. For anything else, share your system list and the product team will confirm the route for each one.
Will connecting new systems disrupt live operations?
Affectli sits alongside your systems and reads from them, so existing operations carry on. A programme can start with the sites and feeds that matter most, then extend one system at a time.
What happens to bad or incomplete data?
The Mi-Stream engine filters each stream and runs integrity checks before data is used. Records that fail are discarded, so invalid data does not raise an event or start a workflow.
Can Affectli control devices as well as read them?
Yes, where the device supports it. Affectli can switch devices on or off and send commands to clear alarms, by hand or from a rule. What is possible depends on each device and its interface.
What technology is Affectli built on?
Open-source foundations: PostgreSQL, Apache Druid, Activiti for BPMN 2.0 workflows, GraphQL, React and Apache Spark. Percona provides support and consulting for the PostgreSQL databases behind Affectli.
Where does Affectli run, and who owns the data?
Affectli is licensed as SaaS, PaaS or on-premises. On-premises, it runs within your own network at your own location. Under the Affectli Terms of Service, you retain all right, title and interest in your data. Data sovereignty & security →
